At Thompson Benton Professional Corporation, lawyers Dagney Benton and Sheri Thompson have over a dozen years of combined experience serving the legal needs of Hastings and Prince Edward Counties. Sheri is from the Belleville area originally and returned here after completing her Bachelor of Art Honours degree in Geography and Political Science from Queen’s University and Bachelor of Laws from Queen’s University. Sheri was called to the bar for the Province of Ontario in July 2004 and has been practicing law in the Belleville area since then. In July 2009 Sheri opened her own firm with her practice focusing on family law and civil litigation. Subsequently, the firm expanded to include Dagney Benton and now offers real estate, wills and estate and Intellectual Property.
Sheri serves on the Mediation Committee of the Hastings County Law Association. She also enjoys dancing, golf and supporting the Belleville Bulls.

Dagney was born and raised in Prince Edward County, Ontario. She obtained her Juris Doctor from Western New England College School of Law in Springfield, Massachusetts. Dagney graduated with honours in 2006. She earned her Canadian Certificate of Qualification in 2007, and was called to the Ontario Bar in Ottawa in June 2008. Dagney also has a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Software Engineering from McMaster University.
Dagney began her legal career in a boutique Intellectual Property firm in Ottawa prior to returning to the Quinte area. Dagney’s practice now covers a broad range of practice areas, including real estate, wills and estates, family law, civil litigation, as well as continuing to work in Intellectual Property Law including patents, trademarks, and copyright.
